I was recently given the opportunity to read and review an advanced copy of a brand new book by Lori Verni-Fogarsi, aka LoriTheAuthor, entitled Unexpecting. I was a little concerned about doing a book review because, as I said, I never have to to just relax. I got the book in the mail, and decided to dedicate at least 20 minutes a day to reading it. Let me just say, 20 minutes was NOT enough!
This book is UH-MAZE-ING! I went on the ride of my life. It was an emotional roller coaster. This is a short description of the book.
Shelley and David are a couple of almost-empty-nesters preparing to embark on the next stage of their lives. They just ordered white furniture and planned the vacation they’ve waited their entire lives to take when Alexandra, seventeen and pregnant, shows up on their doorstep and announces that she’s the daughter they never knew they had!
Though this description makes it sound a little interesting, I don't think it does the book justice. My 20 minute a day dedication to reading this book was quickly turning into "Kids, go play in your room and leave mommy alone. Oh, and watch your sister!!" It was truly hard to rip myself away from this story. I was laughing, I was crying, I was z-snapping the "Alexandra" character. I was yelling at David, and my kids were peeking in at me, asking if I was okay.
This book is full of drama. Not just any drama though, the kind of drama that makes you think, "Oh no!! This could happen to me one day!!", kind of drama. It is so real. I connected with the characters. I cried for them, I laughed with them, I felt like I was in the room with them for every minute. It was the kind of book I love to read. One that I feel a part of, and a connection to. One I was able to picture in my head. I had a vision of what each character looked like. I could picture the home, inside and out. I felt involved, I felt attached, I felt like I was part of the family...or at least a fly on the families wall. hehe.
Now, I want one of you to feel that way. I want to give you the chance to meet this family, and become part of their lives. You know what that means! It's giveaway time!!
I know some of you are impatient and don't like to wait to see who wins the giveaway. So, if you don't want to wait then her can head over to Amazon and purchase it.
