It's the little things......

I always hear people talking about how "It's the little things in life".  I love the little things.  They really are special and every time someone make's that statement I have to think about something small that makes my life better, happier, and more wonderful than it already is!

Today I was really thinking about "the little things" as I was preparing for my upcoming trip.  I decided that I am tired of spending a fortune every single time we stopped to pee or get gas.  So I went out and did a little snack shopping.  It cost me about $23.  I figure that every stop, which is usually about 4-5 from Abilene, TX to Alton, IL, we spend an average of $10 on junk.  That means a total of 40-50 bucks just on the way there.  YIKES!!
So, I bought big bags of stuff and have bagged it individually in ziploc baggies for the kids.

ANYWAY,

As I was bagging I came across my favorite road trip snack,

CHEX MIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only thing is I HATE the pretzels!! HATE, HATE, HATE them.  Always have.  I think they're dry and gross and unless covered with chocolate or chocolate and peanut butter, have no place being called a snack food!

Then it happened!  I had kids!!  Kids that haven't yet realized that pretzels are gross.  So, now I buy big bags of chex mix without guilt of wasting food.  See, my kids always want what I am eating.  I assume mostly because they are selfish little brats and never want mommy to have anything of her own.  It is all okay though when what they want is the bag of chex mix.  They think it's all flavored pretzels.  Every time they want some I hand them the pretzels and I indulge in the good stuff in the bag.  The stuff that has a right to be there!

So as I sit here with my bad of chex mix wide open, ready to be "bagged" I can actually pick out all of the pretzels and put them into little ziplock baggies and enjoy digging into the bag on my trip with out fear of pulling out the dreaded, dry, tasteless, space wasting "snack food", that gets in my way and ruins my life!!!
It makes me so grateful for my kids and their ignorance to my sneaky ways.  It puts a smile on my face to know that they are getting what they think they want and helping me get exactly what I want in the process! I love my boys!

My sweet adorable naive boys!

IT REALLY IS THE LITTLE THINGS IN LIFE!!
