Running Away

I am so tired of being tired!  Especially now that we are finally having such beautiful weather!  So, I am running away!  Away from my couch!  I decided to get my behind outdoors!  Last night I told the kids to put their shoes on because I decided we were going for a walk.

I am very lucky in the sense that I do not have to push my kids to be active.  They are already there.  They are outdoor kids.  We have a Wii, iPhones, internet, a DSi, and more cable channels than anyone needs.  Yet, my children still play outside more that they play with electronics.  That pleases me a great deal.  It makes me feel like I am doing my job as a parent.  I feel like I have taught them the importance of being active.  Yay me!  Go me!  I rock!  Blah, Blah, Blah....WHATEVER

I DO NOT ROCK!

I did NOT lead by example.  I feel very guilty about that.  Like, super guilty!  I have always been the kind of person who won't ask anything of you that I would not do myself.  EXCEPT, when it comes to this.  Now, I think it needs to change!

I decided to use last night's walk as a trial run.  How much the kids could do, how much I could do, how the baby would do, and what kind of traffic I was dealing with.  I definitely learned to avoid certain roads.  I felt multiple near death experiences.  People really need to slow their asses down in my neighborhood!  Anyway, that is a whole other topic!  I also learned from my test run....well, not run, more like test walk and jog intervals, that I need ear plugs.  Our whole walk consisted of the 8 year old asking me if I knew where I was going.

Shane:  "Mom, do you know where we are?"
Me: "yes Shane"
Shane: "Mom, are you sure we aren't lost"
Me: "yes Shane"
Shane "Mom, do you know where you are going?"
Me: "yes, Shane"
Shane: "Mom, I don't think you know where you're going"
Me: "yes I do Shane"
Shane: "Mom, maybe we should stop and ask one of these house for directions home"
Me: "FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!!!!  SHUT UP SHANE!!!!"
Shane: "well, I'm sorry Mom but it just seems like we are lost.  It's okay, to ask for help mom.  Nobody will laugh"
Me:  "Talk again and I will hit you"

The rest of the walk was pretty quiet.  With the occasional squeal from the Princess.  She liked the jogging part.  I have a feeling she is going to be my little thrill seeker!  Lord, help me, if that is the case!!  haha

So, after that adventure we all slept pretty good last night.  I don't plan on letting my 8 year old discourage me with his yapping.  I may invest in a shock collar.

I did talk to Liz, over at Funny Postpartum Lady who happens to be a runner and she sent me to check out a Couch to 5K app on my phone. I found it and downloaded it.  I will also be getting more involved in the Runners Group over at MothersHelpingOthers.  Hopefully, some of you other runners can go over there and leave some tips for me!

I will keep everyone updated with my progress.  Wish me luck!!!!!

This SUPER easy recipe will BLOW.YOUR.MIND

So, today I got together with my good friend Christine, from Moore Organized Mayhem.  I hate when I have guests over and no snacks to serve.  I didn't do a whole lot of grocery shopping.  Like, seriously, all that was in my fridge was beer, wine, cheese, and a variety of condiments.  I did, however, happen to have 2 eggs.  Then I looked in my pantry and saw chocolate chips, bread, peanut butter, and sugar.  There were also some fruit snacks and the random can of corn and Spaghetti O's.
Yea...not sure how we have survived the last few days...
OKAY!  That is NOT the point of this post!  Stop interrogating me and you just leave Child Protective Services out of this!!  ;)

Now, I know you are dying to know what I made.  Well, using just 4 of the ingredients above I made something that tasted so fabulous it will

BLOW.YOUR.MIND.

I've never made anything this easy!  I made Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies!  YES!!  With only 4 ingredients!!

Here is the recipe::

Blow Your Mind Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees farenheit

1 cup Peanut Butter (crunchy or smooth, your call)
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
1/4 cup mini chocolate chips

Using a mixer, mix the first three ingredients until completely blended.
Use a spoon to mix in the chocolate chips.
Roll into balls and place on a baking sheet
use a fork to flatten
bake for 10-12 minutes.

DO NOT BROWN THEM

Let them cool before taking them off of the cookie sheet.  If they come off before they have cooled they will break.

YEP!  That's it!  That is all you have to do!.  Way to easy right?  I threw all of this together and had them completely cooked in 20 minutes!  This is a great last minute snack idea and serves up very nicely.  Here is is step by step in pictures too!  Yeah, I'm all fancy like that!!

Okay, now that I have shared my secrets to easy can you head over to Mothers Helping Others Recipe Group join the discussion and share your super simple recipe! I  may even feature a couple on my blog!  We might even be able to convince Funny Postpartum Lady into trying out a few recipes and doing a feature on her blog as well!

Dinner Time Drama

It never ever fails that I on a normal evening I don't actually get to consume my dinner.  You know, the dinner I slaved over and cooked.  The dinner that my kids usually don't even end up eating.  The same dinner that they asked for.  Yeah, that dinner.  The other night we had a special request.  Steak and salad.  That is what they wanted.  Sounded great to me!  I ordered this time though.  I absolutely love that we have a steak delivery place in town.  I thought "this will be great!  I won't have to cook and the clean up will be simple and the kids will be happy because it is what they asked for!"  I ordered the steak tips lunch special. (the place does lunch orders until 5!!!) It was only $6.99 for the lunch special and it was big enough for the boys to share.  It came with 6 oz of steak tips, a baked potato and a salad.

As I was transferring their dinner onto paper plates, they both started fighting over who was going to sit where.  I told them to settle down and to sit in the spots they usually sit in.  They both sat down, I handed them their food and did not even bother to sit with them because I knew it was coming "MoooOOoooM what do we have to drink?"  So I cut them off at the pass.  "Boys, what do you want to drink" and got the usual reply...a soda of some sort.  That night it was Ginger Ale with a cherry....yeah, don't ask...they are weird kids.

We all know what happens if something takes an extra step.  Extra step=Adding cherries.  Yeah, I know!  Simple step!  Just enough time for them to bombard you with more questions.  This time is was "MoooooooOOOoooooooM, where is the steak sauce?? We can't eat steak without steak sauce!  Can you get it for us please???"  I said "boys, I'm getting the drinks you wanted, you will have to wait for the steak sauce"  They both grumble "fine".  I finally finish pouring the drinks and before I can even get them on the table I hear gagging, coughing and a cry for help!  I turn around and the oldest is choking on steak.

OMG!  IS HE SERIOUS??

All I could think was "It never ends, it is always something!"  Yes, I know that sounds harsh since he was actually choking BUT since he cried for help, I knew we weren't facing life or death.  As I'm smacking him on the back all I can hear is "Mom!!!  Where is my drink?  Oh and where is my steak sauce?"

So I am beating one kid on the back and fielding "where is" questions from another.

BEAT, BEAT
SMACK, SMACK

Finally!!!  Here came the steak!
First word out of the kids mouth?
Thanks Mom!! Yeah...NO!  I did not get a "thank you"
I got a "can I get my steak sauce and drink now?"
In which he got the following reply
"Go sit your butt down and learn to chew your darn steak!!"

I turn around to grab the drinks and the steak sauce and hear this horrible and loud bloody murder style scream coming from the youngest boy.  I stop what I'm doing, turn around and see that the 3 year old has got his arm stuck in the chair.  How he does this I will never know.  I go over there and do a little maneuvering, and get his arm out.  Did I get a thank you from him?  Nope!  Instead I got a "drink and steak sauce mamma!  OH and don't forget the cherries!!"

SIGH

By this time, my steak was cold and my salad was wilted and warm.  The kids had what they wanted and were pleased with themselves, and me?  Well, as usual, I ended up just putting my food in the fridge, then poured myself a very large glass of wine, and went to my room for some peace and quiet.

It is always something around here with my kids and usually, it happens during dinner.  Tell me I'm not alone please?!
