Our first snack is :
Kielbasa with a Ginger Ale glaze
2lbs Kielbasa
12 oz Gingerale
Slice the smoked sausage up into 1 to 2 inch pieces
Put the sausage and the 12 oz of ginger ale into a skillet on high heat
Bring to a boil. Once the boiling point has reached, reduce heat to medium. Let cook for 15-20 minutes. Turning every few minutes to avoid burning.
The ginger ale puts just the right amount of flavor into this sausage without being too sweet. My kids would not stop eating these!!
Next order of business was to make the Football Subs!
These were fantastic!!
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
I pkg. Bolillo Rolls
1lb ground beef
1/2 c. frozen onion, red, and green pepper mix
Shredded cheese
1 string cheese
Jack Daniels Smokehouse BBQ Sauce
salt & pepper to taste
Brown the ground beef.
Drain.
Add the onion and peppers mixture and salt & pepper.
cook over low for about 5 minutes (until the veggies are soft)
Add BBQ sauce and let simmer.
While simmering grab your rolls and start cutting them
If you have dip, don't discard the bread you cut out of the center. It would be delicious cut up and dipped in a dill dip or spinach dip, or any other dip really. haha
Now add your cheese to the bottom. (this is totally optional) Then put a little butter around the top edges.
Put your meat mixture in. Then take the string cheese and create a football.
bake in a 400 degree oven for about 5 minutes.
Serve warm
YUM!!!! |
Next in the lineup is the
Fancy Shmancy Football Pizza!
EASYYYYYY!!!!!
1 roll of refrigerated pizza dough
1 pkg pepperoni
1 pkg Mozzarella
1 stick of string cheese
1 pkg 4 cheese pizza blend
1 jar of pizza sauce
Start by opening the dough, and rolling it out flat. Then shape it into a football shape.
following the directions on the refrigerated dough. Then put on your sauce and 1 layer each of Mozzarella and Pizza blend cheese. After that start layering that pepperoni. Finally, shred the string cheese and turn it into football laces.
Pop that bad boy in the oven and bake as per directions on package. It is typically at 400 degrees for 10-15 minutes.
And this is what you get!
Okay, I saved dessert for last!
I made
Football Oreo Truffles
1 pkg oreo cookies
1 8 oz tub of pre-softened cream cheese
1 lb of semi sweet bakers chocolate or chocolate flavored candy coating
1 pkg of white chocolate morsels.
Grind up the oreos, add in the cream cheese. Use an electric mixer to mix together until no trace of cream cheese is seen.
Roll into balls and then form into little football shapes.
Pop in the freezer for 10 minutes.
While the little footballs are in there getting frozen, go ahead and melt down that semi sweet chocolate and get a tray layered with wax paper ready.
Once the chocolate is melted, grab the footballs out of the freezer, set them on top of a fork and dip them in. Shake the excess chocolate off and place them on the wax paper lined tray. Let them set up.
While they are setting, head back on over to the stove or microwave and melt the white chocolate. Let cool a tiny bit, grab a decorators bag or a sandwich baggie and snip a tiny hole in the end. Pour white chocolate in and decorate the little football truffles by creating laces.
Voila!
